A Sr. Launch Program Manager is responsible for the overall Material Handling Equipment (MHE) Maintenance Site Launch Program within the fulfillment center operations.  This position will ensure that all resources are scheduled and mobilized timely for all new launches throughout North America. 

  • Accountable for compiling and reporting the status of all launch efforts to multiple stakeholders.
  • Escalating concerns and gaps as needed to the proper stakeholder(s).
  • Delivering on prescribed MHE Launch/Start-up methods.
  • Upkeep of playbooks, documentation, SharePoint folders and other launch program material.
  • Reviewing launch lessons learned and refinement of the launch program through means of continuous improvement.
  • Creating standard work for the Launch Program Managers.
  • Managing the launch/start-up of multiple new MHE maintenance operations throughout the NAFC footprint.
  • At times the Sr. Launch Program Manager will need to dig in and fill the role of a Launch Program Manager whereby performing the tactical responsibilities of that role to include the below:
    • Managing the training of Maintenance Managers, Technicians and CMMS personnel to ensure minimum essential skill sets are attained prior to site launch.
    • Managing the site’s Installation/Operation Qualification (IOQ) process whereby identifying and deploying a team of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), performing the IOQ, developing an action item list, and working with Operations Engineering and the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) to see the action item list through to completion.
    • Leading new management through the start-up of a site and ensuring that the site is fully staffed, trained, on boarded, and set up for success by the targeted launch dates.
    • Responsible for managing the new site set-up: Parts - receipt, ID, store, inventory; Shop - shelving, equipment, tools; War Room Set-up; RTL Tracker compliance and quality control; Arc Flash Analysis; LOTO Placarding.
    • Following through post launch to ensure the site is transitioned to the Regional Maintenance Manager (sustainability team) seamlessly.
    • Ensuring alignment with site operations management, operations engineering, launch engineering, Regional Maintenance Managers, OEM Project Managers, vendors and other key stakeholders to ensure the site is launched efficiently and effectively.
    • Stepping in where necessary to provide coverage in the absence of a Maintenance Manager.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Project Management, Engineering or a related discipline, or 2+ years of Amazon RME Management experience.
  • 7+ years of project management experience.
  • 7+ years of maintenance operations experience.
  • Extensive Microsoft Office experience.
  • Ability to travel to various North American fulfillment centers is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA and work experience in technical field is highly desired.
  • Auditing experience is a plus.
  • Prior experience or use of Lean/Six Sigma.
  • Prior experience in training and development.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong knowledge in project development methodology, clear verbal and written communication skills, has the ability to handle daily activities in a dynamic environment and drive deliverables.
