Overview

Daifuku America Corporation is a leader in Design, Manufacturing, Installation and Support of automotive automation/material handling systems in North America. The company is currently seeking an experienced Manufacturing Manager for the facility in Reynoldsburg, OH.



Responsibilities

Primary goal of this role is to plan, manage, and direct all manufacturing activities, and to oversee employees, production and efficiency, to make sure the plant is running smoothly, quickly, efficiently and safely. Responsible for achieving efficient and economical production within established manufacturing costs. Maintain quality standards and volume requirements, scheduled customer commitments and to accomplish plans and objectives set forth in the company’s strategic plan.

 

Other responsibilities

  • Assist with the development of long and short range plans, policies, operating procedures, and objectives
  • Delegate authority and responsibilities to assistant managers
  • Coordinate activities in areas of scheduling, production, maintenance, staffing, training, and other related functions
  • Maintain close surveillance over operations through staff meetings, observation, and personal contact to assure timely production and schedules, utilization of personnel, machines, equipment and facilities
  • Able to manage project cost budgets as it pertains to the manufacturing environment such as labor hour, material, costs, subcontract cost. Also able to motivate and challenge the associates towards metrics that enhance and visualize their individual labor goals at each work station
  • Must be proactive and promote a 6 sigma quality mentality to all associates and realize quality is everyone’s responsibility. Customer relations and responses to quality concerns is a must
  • Must have good understanding of lean manufacturing concepts and able to facilitate lean kaizen events towards continuous improvements, and 5S understanding of this principle and how to apply it in a visual way to empower all associates to be compliant
  • Promote an on time shipping performance to our customers of 95% or greater. Communicate customer schedules and commitments in such a way that all understand the goal and are working together in a do whatever it takes mentality to support our customers
  • Assist in solving manufacturing related problems to resolve and implement corrective action
  • Act as liaison between management and supervisors to keep personnel informed of matters of communications, decisions and policies
  • Participate as a management representative in labor relations
  • Administer policies and rules for personal safety and conduct
  • Must have a working knowledge of safe work principles and habits and champion a culture of zero recordable incidents
  • Supervise and coordinate various programs essential to manufacturing procedures such as training, safety, housekeeping, and cost reduction
  • Maintain staffing requirements
  • Interview and select personnel to fill both supervisory and hourly positions
  • Participate in the company quality process
  • Perform other work related duties as required


Qualifications

  • Prior manufacturing experience is necessary
  • Interpersonal skills, must be able to speak with employees, other department managers and senior management
  • Leadership skills, must be able to motivate others
  • Problem solving skills, must be able to quickly and decisively solve a situation
  • Time management skills, must be able to meet deadlines and manage time accordingly
  • Relies on extensive experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals
  • Familiar with a variety of the fields concepts, practices, and procedures

Work Environment

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is exposed to dirt/dust, heat/cold, fumes/odors, vibration and wetness
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud but tolerable

Education and Experience Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering is required

A minimum 5 years of plant management experience with strong supervisory skills
