The company is currently seeking a System Administrator, ERP.


System Administrator


Position Summary/ Primary Purpose

The ERP System Administrator’s role is to ensure the reliable performance of the infrastructure, applications, software and databases that are required by corporate ERP systems such as SAP and Penta. Utilizing expertise in tools and technology such as SAP Basis, ABAP, and Penta ERP. Assist with troubleshoot and resolves any issue ERP related hardware, software, user access or other problems. Performs systems maintenance tasks, such as system back-up, recovery and file maintenance. Schedules, installs, and tests system software upgrades. Configures software and resolves technical problems. This individual reports to the IT Manager, and will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help maximize the benefit of IT system investments.  


Major Areas of Responsibility

  • Provide operational support of ERP Systems which includes:
    • System administration (SAP and Penta)
    • ERP system related issue resolution (hardware, software, user access, network, etc.)
    • User access and role management
    • Software installation
    • System patching and corrective fixes
    • Transport management
    • Client administration
    • System copies
    • Back-up jobs
    • Maintenance jobs
    • Print management
    • Database administration and maintenance
    • System monitoring and performance tuning
  • Provide 2nd tier (1st tier as needed) support for multiple ERP platforms including SAP and Penta.
  • Provide technical support for ERP Functional team members (testing, research, diagnosis).
  • Perform system integrations and migrations
  • Assist with coordination of 3rd party service providers
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation of processes, standards and procedures for the administration and support of SAP and Penta systems
  • Must be able to provide on-call, ‘after hours’ support and assistance.
  • Ensure that all work complies with applicable laws or regulations (JSOX, HIPAA, etc.)
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • English Language — Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Knowledge of SAP offerings and ecosystem, SAP architecture, application life cycle management, and run methodology
  • Knowledge of SAP system planning, installation, and administration, as well as a working understanding of SAP architecture and application modules.
  • Good RDBMS knowledge of 1 or more systems (SQL Server or Oracle desired) including installation and administration, backup/recovery techniques and general disaster recovery procedures.
  • Good knowledge of UNIX/Linux and/or Microsoft Windows operating systems.
  • Working knowledge of database query tools.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Excellent analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Solid understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Education & Experience

  • Training in vocational schools, related on-the-job experience, or an associate degree.
  • 3+ years of related systems administration support experience,
  • 1+ years include related SAP Basis and System Administration experience.


Demonstrated Physical Abilities

Remain stationary for 50% of the time; move/traverse throughout the office to access file cabinets and office equipment; operate a computer and other productivity machinery; inspect documents; communicate with others through talking/hearing; read/identify/assess forms and correspondence
