Job Description


Our Technology Development (TD) department was newly created in January, 2015, focusing on the development of new products in multi-industry environment expanding our eFA division’s scope of AMHS clean factory industry (i.e. carrier storage system and carrier transportation system in semiconductor fabs).

We are looking for a software engineer for Industrial IoT product development, who are familiar with Python, JavaScript, JSON object, NODE.js, C++, C#, Java languages, ODBC APIs for MS SQL Server, SQL Query statements, and Mongo DB (No SQL database) APIs for data read and write access to those database as the data storage for the development products.

This engineer requires web server design to display Dashboard/HMI over web browser.
We use small development tool such as Raspberry Pi, Arduino and Microchip’s IDE kit for front end interface device, as well as PC Servers for On-Premise implementation and plan to implement hybrid architecture in 2018, which requires Cloud platform implementation.

Since we use a lot of Open Source application software, the software engineer must be familiar with command line operation of Ubuntu / Linux OS platform.

Since we are very small development team, this engineer will do pretty much everything from procurement of devices, creating design document, building a complete product as one of team members.
This engineer must love creating new product with hands on while enjoying his or her code to drive the components, and has good problem solving skills in general.
This engineer should not be afraid to adapt recent technologies into his or her development, and takes responsibility for the implementation from start to finish within planned schedule.
This position also requires excellent communication skills in listening, writing, speaking in English, willingness to complete the job within the due date whatever take.
This position requires strong team work skills, helping your co-worker to make the target product together.


There are multiple phases of job duties as follows:

NOTE:  We are currently in the implementation phase of an Industrial IoT Product for Multi-Industrial manufacture.

Research Phase:

  1. Research industry interests from scratch, generate ideas of new application from all available information sources,
  2. Define current issues and the possible solutions for each issue, describe how to accomplish those solutions, and draft the design.
  3. Generate business model, make the development plan, cost estimate from draft design, perform ROI analysis to assess the idea is profitable in reasonable time.
  4. Research potential customers, evaluate market size and estimate product life cycle.
  5. Make the detail design by using necessary external resources to complete proto-type and production model design draft package including system architecture, mechanical layout, control system, functions, logic, cost estimate, lead time, and list and study what is the requirement to comply all safety standards.
  6. Present design proposal(s) to VP. Upon approval, build proto-type and evaluate performance, and make it work at original intent or better.
  7. Coordinate the marketing plan with sales department, demonstrate the application and the performance to target customers.

RFQ Phase:

  1. Upon the receipt of RFQ, work with Sales representative, and generate the comprehensive design package based on requirements from customers and complying all regulatory industry standards.

Implementation Phase:

  1. Upon the receipt of order, hand-off the final design package to the manufacturer(s), follow up the customer questions, work with customer based on design and lead-time.
  2. Provide training to DAC technical writer who generates standard documentation (Operation Manual, Maintenance Manual, Troubleshooting Manual, Installation Manual, Spare Part list), provide training to training instructor who trains installation and sustaining crews.
  3. Support installation activities as responsible engineer, resolve issues during the installation with the designers, and report the status of the installation to customer.
  4. Deliver a completed product package including necessary product training (operation, maintenance, safety), product with final acceptance test document, standard documentations, standard compliance report(s) and certification(s).

Post – Development Phase:

  1. Provide post-installation product support, continuous communication with customer to obtain their feedback and counter proposal for possible expansion of business.
  2. Continuously work on product improvement for product update opportunities and maintain the product strength in the market.


Special Requirements

  • The frequency of business trip may needed for marketing phase, 0 to 6 times per each quarter, during implementation phase, may require multiple 2-3 week periods of business trips on site. The majority of travels is domestic trips, but may require the international trip as needed base.
  • Must have a valid US state issued driver license and a valid passport.
  • Be flexible to travel in very short notice.
  • Some overtime work may be needed for meeting the target schedule of design proposal package, or discuss with DFK designer in Japan after regular hours.
  • Self-management of time and health is essential for this work since we have very limited resources, and we depend on each other in our department.
  • Working under a lot of pressure, be patient and willing to understand the cultural and language difference between US and Japan.
