Job Description


Position Summary/ Primary Purpose

The IT Business Analyst’s role is to plan, design, develop, and launch efficient business, financial, and operations systems in support of core organizational functions and business processes. This includes gathering and analyzing data in support of business cases, proposed projects, and systems requirements. Strong functional experience with the selected IT systems is required. The Business Analyst is also responsible for generating and compiling reports based on their findings, complete with probable causes and possible solutions to systems issues. This individual reports to the IT Manager, and will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help maximize the benefit of IT system investments.  


  • Meet with decision makers, systems owners, and end users to define business, financial, and operations requirements and systems goals, and identify and resolve systems issues.
  • Lead and participate in design sessions regarding new systems for enhancing business processes, operations, and information process flow.
  • Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems.
  • Prepare and deliver reports, recommendations, or alternatives that address existing and potential trouble areas in operating systems across the organization.
  • Collaborate in the planning, design, development, and deployment of new applications, and enhancements to existing applications.
  • Create systems models, specifications, diagrams and charts to provide direction to IT Systems Analysts.
  • Coordinate and perform in-depth tests, including end-user reviews, for modified and new systems, and other post-implementation support.
  • Review existing business process documentation for applicability and modify as necessary.
  • Conduct Ad-Hoc training sessions as needed.
  • Perform cost-benefit analyses for proposed systems to aid management in making implementation decisions.
  • Conduct research to justify recommendations and to support purchasing efforts.
  • Provide guidance and/or instruction to peer staff members.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • English Language — Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Proven experience in overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software and hardware solutions, systems, or products.       Optionally, candidates with strong functional experience should have experience with increasing levels of responsibility within their given areas (Materials, Distribution, Finance, HR, etc)
  • Extensive experience with the targeted IT applications
  • Working knowledge of database query tools.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Excellent analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Solid understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Education & Experience

  • Training in vocational schools, related on-the-job experience, or an associate's degree.
  • 2 years’ experience in a systems analyst, programmer or application support role.
