Job Description

Overview

Supervises and directs daily system maintenance operations, installation, maintenance, and repair of devices, which control and are controlled by the automated baggage handling system, passenger boarding bridges, trash carts and related equipment.



Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operations to ensure maintenance schedules are met in an efficient, safe, and employee-oriented manner.
  • Perform daily system maintenance and repair of devices such as, but not limited to, personal computers, programmable logic controllers and peripherals, motor control panels, photoelectric sensors, laser and RF readers, servo devices, changing HVAC air handler filters, condensate pumps, and motors.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs control system and electrical failures by applying comprehensive technical knowledge to solve problems by interpreting manufacturer manuals or similar documents.
  • Direct supervision of all daily assignments. Schedule and supervise mechanics and technicians in the maintenance and repair of conveyor and passenger boarding bridge equipment.
  • Review and monitor personnel assignments, including the issue and completion of work orders within the CMMS system.
  • Coordinate repairs, maintenance and overhauls with airport and airline staffs to minimize customer down time.
  • Monitor and report system performance, and system maintenance operations standards to Site Manager and customers.
  • Coordinate and manage daily preventive maintenance program.
  • Resolve technical issues.
  • Diagnose PLC and operating system software issues through use of computer.
  • Diagnose, repair and align laser array hardware and software.
  • Maintain daily turnover reports.
  • Maintains and develops the commitments of all employees to the quality of work they are performing and promotes the concept of zero defects and continuous improvement as operating modes.
  • Train, develop and motivate maintenance site personnel toward the achievement of the Company objectives.
  • Conduct performance appraisals and disciplinary actions.
  • Verification of inbound and outbound materials, keeping inventory current, includes the requisition of spare parts to support maintenance contract.
  • Maintain customer satisfaction by keeping the customer in mind.
  • Exercises initiative and judgment during the absence of the Site Manager to see that issues requiring attention are handled in a manner designed to minimize the effects of the manager’s absence.
  • Monitors and enforces safety practices to protect site personnel, airline/airport personnel, passengers and public.


Qualifications

  • Associates degree in electronic technology or related field or 5 years equivalent experience
  • Ability to identify, maintain, troubleshoot, AB RS LOGIX 5000 PLC's and PLC components
  • Ability to identify, maintain, troubleshoot, modify HMI components
  • Ability to identify, maintain, troubleshoot, and modify control network components
  • Ability to identify, maintain, troubleshoot, and modify Motor Controls including motor starters, Variable Frequency Drives, DC drives, and standard electrical components.
  • Industrial electrical hands-on experience and troubleshooting, including 480V 3-phase, 110 VAC, and 24VDC systems
  • Ability to execute project tasks assigned.
  • Reasoning, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to interpret and modify drawings both mechanical and electrical
  • Ability to identify, maintain, and utilize SCADA systems and KPI's
  • Ability to train others with lesser skills
  • Ability to access all levels and areas of the facility
  • Ability to interpret and understand policies and procedures and relate them to others

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field or equivalent experience
  • Systems industrial controls knowledge or programming experience
  • Field service engineering experience
  • Systems trainer or training experience
  • Experience supporting a wide range of different conveyors and sortation systems
  • Experience with advanced automation controls systems
  • Project management experience
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize different projects and work load
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively (written and verbally) with peers, management, vendors and customers.
  • Self-motivated and customer-centric

Computer Skills:

Basic Requirements:

  • Basic computer knowledge, at an intermediate level in working with Microsoft Windows to include: Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Basic ability to work with CMMS (computerized maintenance management software)

  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and be insurable under the Company’s insurance policy
  • Must be able obtain and maintain an Airport Security badge

WORK ENVIRONMENT  

Varies between an office environment as well as all areas located on Airport property. May be around dust, dirt and noise level below OSHA minimum requirements.
